Build instructions
- Start by drilling holes for the LED and the switch
in the front of the box. The LED should be a tight fit!
- If the LED is of the clear variety then gently sand
the front of the lens using a fine grade sand paper, this will act as a diffuser and
give a softer broader beam.
- Now fit the LED and switch into the front of the
box.
- Next make all the electrical connections, as shown
in the circuit diagram. Use some small diameter rubber sleeving to insulate the component
legs and prevent them from shorting out.
- Carefully check your connections, then fit the
batteries and test the unit before fitting the lid.
- Finally glue some foam rubber inside the lid just
above the battery holder, this should keep the battery holder firmly in place once the lid
is fitted. Then fit the lid.

Left, the finished
project. For the box, I was fortunate enough to receive this as a free sample from a
moulding company, but almost any small plastic 'project box' would be suitable. |
